Trio no Treble is an unconventional trio with viola, cello and double bass. A trio without treble, only dark voices and deep sound. The trio consists of Lars Marius Hølås (viola), Eivind Rossbach Heier (cello) and Jostein Bolås Brødreskift (double bass).
The trio was founded in 2017, and they have played many successful concerts around Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Nepal and Serbia. In Norway, they have played concerts all over the country, and they have been a festival trio at Festpillene in Kristiansund and in Mosjøen. For several years, they have collaborated with Musikk i Nordland, where they have had great success with the concept of "pub quiz" with the slogan "big experiences in small places". Trio no Treble regulary playes school concerts in Trondheim, Troms and Finnmark.
The trio has also been stage musicians during the production of "The csardas princess" at the Opera in Kristiansund, and the opera in Stjørdal. In December 2021 and 2022 they were on a Christmas tour together with Elisabeth "Bettan" Andreassen, Are Hembre and Trond Hustad.
In the spring of 2025 they will go on tour to Hong Kong to play their own concerts, as well as perform with the Nepalese artist Rachana Dahal. In the fall of 2025 they will go on a new pub quiz tour in Nordland.
In 2023 and 2024, they had a stage role in Opera Di Setra's production of “Flåklypa Tidenes Opera”. In addition, the trio played concerts with violinists Marianne Thorsen and Alex Robson. They also went on two tours to Nepal.
In 2020, they also released two albums. A "classic" album including Trygve Brøske's commissioned work "Trio (no) Trouble", and a Christmas album. Both albums received rave reviews.
The trio has collaborated with several other musicians, including Rasmus Rohde and Ronny Kjøsen, and they are featured on Klaus Sonstad's latest children's album.
They have also performed on "VG-lista" with Mads Hansen, and for several years they have had a musical Christmas calendar on social media. Stephen Fry himself was in one of the entries.
Trio no Treble is known for their playful approach to both classical music, folk music, as well as their lively interpretations of new pop music. In other words, the trio plays music in all genres and for all occasions.
They are also active on social media, and during the coronavirus pandemic, they have had a musical collaboration with Arve Tellefsen. During the pandemic, Trio no Treble was featured in the British magazine "The Strad" three times.
The members of Trio no Treble are versatile musicians with regular engagements with, among others, the Trondheim Soloists and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. They all have Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the NTNU Department of Music, and they have had study stays in Germany, Switzerland and Sweden.
